Introduction |
|
Establishment of the Department of
Commerce in the University of Sargodha was another hallmark achieved under the able
guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhary, the worthy Vice-Chancellor, within
a very short span of time. This department was established in August, 2007. Inspite
of many bottlenecks and drastically short resources, the process of admissions to
MCom classes was completed within September and the classes were started in October
2007 alongside all other departments of the University. As already mentioned above
conceptual foundations of the department were laid down by the worthy Vice-Chancellor,
actualization process was supported by the zest and vigor of Prof. Dr. Maqbool Hussain
Sial, the Dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences and the field operations
were looked after by Prof. Malik Muhammad Hayat, the Head, Department of Commerce.
The Department has begun its success debut energetically. Initially, an intake of
30-students: divided into 5-(self finance) and 25 - (regular) was planned. Response
was huge, thereby raising the total number of seats to 40. In terms of merit it has ranged from 58% (the lowest) to 74% (the highest). With the induction of additional
faculty and improvement in facilities, we are quite sure of not only maintaining
the present level but also are quite hopeful of going the extra mile. B.Com (Hons)
Department of Commerce has started admissions to B.Com (Hons). It will consist of
08-semesters and a total of 136 credit hours. Students passing their intermediate
examination in Commerce from any recognized Board of Intermediate and Secondary
Education or Diploma in Commerce from the Board of Technical Education, with at
least 50 percent marks, shall be eligible to apply. F.Sc (Pre-Engineering) students
may also apply. We are planning to start some new programs, the details of which
will be made public as
soon as these are approved by the competent authorities.
Similarly, we are also visualizing increasing the number of seats in the near future.
